The car bears a plate with the chassis number 3029984, indicating a 1959 production; but this does not match with
some of the car's features, such as the style of the front of the car, corresponding to a later period (1963 to 1967).
Nguyen Van Thanh also found his two DS
abandoned. One of them, an ID19, is fully
restored now.
Top: the other DS, yet to be restored. It seems to be a Belgium-made, 1967 DS21.
Below: Ahn Thanh's garage in the HCMC suburbs. The other DS belongs to Ahn Trieu, and is presented in detail
separately

Update ! (October 2014) I visited Thanh
again in May, 2014. The neighborhood
has changed a lot, but the burgundy DS is
still there, in running condition he says: the
photo below shows the car in January of
the same year, when he took it for a ride
around the block, he says. The other one,
the ID19, has changed hands and has
been restored in 2014,
see
Thanh's new toys: a GS (first time I see one
in Vietnam), a Dyane, and, left, one of the
3,880 "La Dalat" designed and assembled
locally on a 2CV chassis by Citroen,
between 1969 and 1975. They are
becoming a rare sight in Saigon
nowadays !
