Fabrice Mattei, a Frenchman living in Bangkok, is a true Citroen fanatic, and he has put
together an impressive collection, which includes a Traction Avant, a pair of 2CVs, a
Mehari, and a DS. And no ordinary DS: she is a beauty contest prize-winner.
Fabrice, who has been living in Malaysia and Thailand for over 10 years, says he inherited
the Citroen virus from his grand-father. He first bought a Traction in 1999, which won
several prizes in classic car contests, then a DS in 2002, followed by two 2CVs. For the
moment he does not have plans to add to his collection of classic Citroens, but who knows...
The 1971 DS21 Pallas belonged to a Thai diplomat who used it only occasionally; the car
has only 68,000 kms, and Fabrice regularly uses it. In 2004 it won the 2nd prize in a contest
organized by the Vintage Car Club of Thailand. Speaking of clubs, Fabrice's cars are shown
on the webpage of the Citroen Club of Thailand, under the brand's history.

Update ! (June
2011) Bangkok
Post motor  journalist
Alfred Tha Hla was
looking for a DS for
his regular article
on classic cars in the
"Motoring" weekly
feature of this
English-language
daily. Since he
wanted a car in
perfect condition, I
proposed Fabrice's.
The article (left) was
published on April,
17th, 2009, a few
days after the photo
shooting.

Alfred writes: "An
exceptional
masterpiece from
both the engineering
and design
standpoints, and
an awful bit of fun
I might add despite
the brief encounter."

The shots below
are mine. Alfred has
the orange shirt.
Update ! (April 2014) The DS has a new owner. Khun Worasak, already presented
came back to his home country and decided he could not live anymore without a DS.
He soon purchased Fabrice's car, had a few repairs made, and started to drive
it on week-ends. The photos below are either mine, or come from his fb page.
